I have a confession to make. I am a book addict, and it led me to the career path that I chose. My job allows me the opportunity to share my passion for books and reading with others (my students). Now I’m sharing it with the readers of Happily Amber After. (I know that I haven’t done this in a while.) Here’s what I am currently reading (or will soon begin reading).

Current Read: To Kill a Mockingbird
I read TKAM in middle or high school (I cannot remember), and I am currently reading this book with my students. Until I started rereading, I could not remember why I loved the book so much. To Kill a Mockingbird tells the story of Scout and how she is a light in a dark time and county. I love the message behind TKAM, and I love the storyline even more.
Current Read: Becoming
I have watched this book become an overnight success. First Lady Michelle Obama is a friend of mine (only in my mind). She is such an inspiration, and I am thrilled to read her story. Though I have been meaning to read this for the few weeks that I have had it, I am absolutely thrilled to curl up and read this. It’s a conversational, and pretty easy, read, and from Chapter 1, she has me hooked.
World Traveler’s Guide to Disney
I am going to be celebrating my 25th birthday at an overseas Disney destination. I could not be more excited to go! (6 Months Until the Trip! Official announcement (on my YouTube Channel) and post are coming soon.) Anyway, I am in full travel-planner mode, so I have been devouring many blogs and books to make the most of my trip. PLUS, I am hoping to return to Disney World again (later this year).
The 57 Bus
I originally bought this book for my classroom. The bookshelves will have to wait until I read this. What really caught my attention is the fact that this is a true story, and it tells from the two perspectives of the life-changing event that occurs on the 57 bus. I have not read any reviews or comments, because I want to form an opinion all on my own (this is very rare for me to do). I cannot wait to read this book.
All About Love (Classmate Recommendation)
I am constantly looking for recommendations from other readers (and even non-readers like). One of my high school classmates posted a picture of this book and talked about how great it was. She always seems to pick pretty good books, so I decided to check this one out. Though I have not begun reading this YET, I am super excited to read it. I’d love to figure out “What is love?”.
I am looking forward to finishing (and reviewing) these five books. If you are interested in catching the reviews (up by Spring Break), then check out my Channel.
Also, I’d love to hear from you. What book(s) are you currently reading? What book(s) would you recommend? I’m an eclectic reader, so I am open to any genre (and even age range). Also, I’d love for you to share the love by sharing this post. Until next time!

Michelle Obama’s sounds like a super interesting book to read
So far, so good. I will update how I feel about it once I finish reading.
I’m currently reading a book that I’m not sure I like, I don’t want to because the topic is definitely controversial but I can’t put it down ahaha
It’s usually the controversial books that capture our attention the most. I have a love/hate relationship with these kinds of books. Just know that whenever you can’t take anymore, you can stop and move to the next. (I know this is easier said than done.) I hope this helps π
Oh i love reading too! I’ve been in a book club for ages. We just finished “All the Light We Cannot See” and will be starting “The First 15 lives of Harry August” !
I began reading All the Light We Cannot See, but for some reason, I didn’t finish it. I will have to pick it back up and read it.
This is a wonderful list. Some classics mixed with newer ones too, I will be checking these ones out soon.
Thank you! There were a lot more books that I left off the list, but I don’t want to be overwhelming, so I will save them for another time.
TKAM is as relevant today as it was when it was written. I’d love to reread it. Even the title, “The 57 Bus” intrigues me. I will be watching for your review of this one.
I completely agree, and I love to relate it to today’s time. I just started reading it, so I look forward to coming up with my reviews π
Everyone has been raving about Becoming! It is on my to-do list for reading but havent gotten around to grabbing it yet! BTW, I read To kIll a Mocking Bird in school and dont remember it either!
Yeah, I plan to be a lot more intentional with my reading this year. I am remembering TKAM as a read, which is a weird/cool experience as a teacher. I just wish I could find my original book.
I needed some new book suggestions. Thanks for the ideas!
I’m glad to have been able to assist. Let me know what you come up with! π
I enjoyed Becoming. I donβt usually read biographies, but I made an exception. π Adding a few of these to my to-read list.
I’m not that big of a fan of biographies myself, but I have been into them over the past couple of years. Nonfiction texts in general, actually. They’re easily becoming my favorite reads as an adult.
These are interesting picks! I need to read Michelle Obama’s book. I’m currently reading a murder mystery called “The French Girl” but I’ve having trouble getting interested in the story line.
That’s the only thing about some murder mysteries… they tend to start off slow.
Nice books. My sister just went to Disney and absolutely loved it. Books that give you tips on what to expect during travel are a great idea. You get a feel for the locals and hidden gems you may have skipped otherwise. Hope you have a wonderful time celebrating your birthday.
Thank you! Yes, I definitely love reading about the places that I am going to visit, especially if it’s my first time. I will be reading a lot more books because I want to find the hidden gems and (shopping) of Paris.
